Metamorphōsēs
In this series I contemplate different mythologies and religions bringing up characters from the swishs of shared cultural heritage. Many myths repeat themselves throughout the history of the humankind and universal hopes, fears and dreams are brought up time after time in different forms and shapes.
Familiar and more unknown stories can awake new ideas, thoughts and completely new stories when presented in a new context. It is also important to regularly bring up so called “taboos” - by guestioning we learn to make the choices between right and wrong, as well as those liminal spaces where we make our decisions, wherever they may take us

Apollo

I sing of far-shooting Apollo, the cunning god of sun
in his harmony the search of art has thus begun
Phoebus strums his lyre, his melodies take flight
guiding souls through darkness, bringing them to light
The Muses, his companions, inspire his sacred verse
their voices intertwining, a symphony to immerse
As the sun dips below the horizon’s gleaming line
the sky reflects in the wine dark sea, gracious and fine
When dawn breaks and aurora paints the sky in flame
Apollo’s lyre resounds, resolution, nature’s acclaim
Verses’ might and a brother’s gift, the cunning lyre
in the golden drops of sunlight, a sound divine, inspire

Rhapsodies From Hell
acrylic on canvas
2023
Once there was a reverie of a dubious paradise
it was dreamt by a stranger in Eden, a wily serpent
a tempter of mind and flesh, a sychopant of souls
The reality of one mind is the other’s delusion
As the illusion shatters another takes its place
and so the monstrous vision gets a crystallized shape
Trying to keep miseries at bay is wicked work
there are bulletproof demons who know how to defy gravity
As they rise up from the depths of flaming inferno,
their insolent laugh echoing through valleys and cities habited by mortal souls,
morale falters easily and they get a taste of the whimsical nature of a madman
The spirit of a man is quick to love and quicker to despair
for there are many delights in the realms of men and plenty beyond
and there are forces as many to rip those gratifications apart and revel in what’s left
there is no greater loss than the one that was always promised but never given
The dance of Nephilim rises the dust from this deserted land
and the sound of their joyful steps vibrates within the forest dark kissed by endless night, ice and fire
like whispers of forgotten Echo who, drifting through the woods, still mourns her lost love
As I walk on the ruins of Sodom and Gomorrah
inspecting the pillars of salt containing ravaged souls
I turn my face to the skies above calling for answers
But the angels keep their enduring silence
and only the demons below shout their sardonic rhapsodies of defiance
their harsh words are hard to ignore and the blessings of a saviour drown in their cacophonic song of lies and hidden truths
What is said before the heavens can never truly be forgotten
and so the devil finds serenity in his eternal ache
that started with a dream of a long-awaited rebellion
